Qatar Pavilion at the 2025 World Expo in Japan
overview
This pavilion at the Osaka-Kansai Expo expresses the rich stories of Qatar's people, land, and sea through the skillful use of realistic materials. The space is constructed with real sand that recreates the desert landscape with delicate gradations, deep-sea-like aluminum material that covers the floor, walls, and ceiling, and a giant curtain of intricate embroidery that symbolizes cultural richness. The design creates an immersive displays space where Qatari's traditional crafts and landscapes fantastically emerge from materials that directly appeal to the senses of visitors.
Issues/requests
The goal was to express Qatar's nature and culture using realistic materials, elevating it into displays space that appeals to the senses of visitors. Furthermore, meticulous design and high-quality construction were required for every detail of displays space, from the structure and materials of the main object placed in the center of displays room.
solution
We worked closely with OMA, who was involved in schematic design of displays production and content creation, and proceeded with working drawings while holding numerous discussions. Furthermore, by creating a meticulous construction plan and steadily implementing it in order to fulfill the client's wishes to the fullest extent, we were able to realize displays space that appeals to the senses of visitors with high quality.
