2025 World Expo Osaka Healthcare Pavilion Nest for Reborn "iPS Cells for the Future"

This is a space located within the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion at the 2025 Japan International Exposition (Osaka-Kansai Expo) where you can see a real myocardial sheet made from iPS cells up close.
To symbolize the progress of research and development worldwide since the discovery of iPS cells and the advancement of science and technology, we have installed a symbolic sculpture based on the motif of a "tree" growing from a seed of iPS cells into a large tree.
Within the "tree" structure, a giant heart model is placed that moves in sync with the beating of the myocardial sheets on displays. The resounding heartbeats and video projections throughout the atrium represent a future where we can live healthy lives thanks to advancements in regenerative medicine.

The challenge was to address the need to increase children's interest in science so that it can contribute to the development of the next generation of researchers and engineers.
At the Osaka-Kansai Expo, which attracts a large number of visitors, we aimed to increase interest in science by displays myocardial sheets made from iPS cells, something that is rarely seen by anyone other than researchers and medical professionals.

displays reflects our aim to convey the hopes for the future of medicine and the importance of life through models and videos that are easy for children to understand.
The role of the myocardial sheet is explained using a "heart model" installed inside a tree and images displayed on a "transparent display."
