Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel 39th floor Sky Banquet Floor "Towers Salon" Renewal
overview
Since its opening in 2001, the Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel has been a prominent landmark in Shibuya. The Sky Banquet Hall on the 39th floor was named "Lunard" (Moon), "Soleil" (Sun), and "Celeste" (Sky) in reference to the sky, reflecting the desire to be a hub for international exchange that connects Japan and the world globally, just as people around the world share the sky.
In this renovation, we have completely revamped concept design to better embody the original concept of each banquet hall, such as the sun, moon, and sky, tailored to the hall's name.
Starting with the renovation plan for two banquet halls, we aimed to create a unified space that tells a story from the common areas. This involved adding elements that give the entire floor concept design a sense of unity and elegance, such as bar counters and curio cases (display shelves) to spaces outside the venues, including the foyer and corridors.
Furthermore, the space has been updated to accommodate the needs of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), corporate events, and weddings by allowing for the integrated use of the entire floor by connecting the various banquet rooms.
Between the 39th and 40th floors, a three-dimensional wall surface is formed that gradually transitions from cerulean blue to a translucent white, creating a deeper connection between the upper and lower floors.
Issues/requests
This was the largest renovation since the hotel's founding, and amidst changing social conditions, including a shrinking wedding market, the client requested that the hotel take advantage of the stunning views and update the space to become a guesthouse for the Tokyu Group, offering a panoramic view of its business bases and capable of entertaining VIPs from around the world.
solution
Within the simple interiors design of each banquet hall, wall art, lighting, and artwork featuring motifs of the sun, moon, and sky are placed as focal points to draw the eye, creating a setting that conveys the prestige of a "guest house" while also further differentiating each banquet hall.
