Kinokuniya Bookstore Shinjuku main store 1st to 4th floor renewal

This is a renovation project for the 1st to 4th floors of the Kinokuniya Shinjuku main store, based on the concept of returning to the origins of the future.

As a new long-established bookstore,
(1) Become a base for disseminating culture, art, and information suitable for the times
② Become a bookstore that will continue to be loved by many customers who love books
③ Continue to maintain and develop the Kinokuniya Building
Three themes have been set as the mission of the store renovation.

Inheriting the value of the 1st floor, commonly known as the plaza, which has been popular as a meeting place since the building was completed in 1964, the entrance on the Shinjuku-dori side has been revived with the concept of "Let's meet at Kinokuniya." The customer's request was to create a space that makes people think, "Let's stop by for a while."

The theme of the 2nd floor is "Salon Revival". At the time of completion, the founder, Moichi Tanabe, was deepening exchanges with cultural figures in the salon on the 9th floor. The customer's expectation was to create such a "hangout" where people who love literature can talk.

We have updated the signage, installed “HASHIRA VISION” as a symbol of meeting in the plaza on the 1st floor, and reconstructed a stylish facade suitable for Kunio Mayekawa's historic building.

The revival of the salon on the 2nd floor will be the ``BOOK SALON'', with ``BOOK CLOCK'', ``BOOK WALL'', and ``BOOK-type digital signage'', etc. I played the salon of the place of exchange.
