BLUE YARD

BLUE YARD is a complex store that seamlessly connects three business types: a dining establishment, a cafe stand, and a record shop, located in the food and beverage zone "Baltica 03" inside "Innogate Osaka," a station building directly connected to JR Osaka Station.
In the dining area, you can enjoy modern American-style cuisine, including meat dishes cooked in a roaster machine, and live music is occasionally held on the center stage with professional acoustics. There is also a casual cafe stand and record shop on the premises. Although it is a tenant in a station building, it has an area of over 665 square meters, and the seating layout meets the diverse needs of morning, afternoon and evening, and the spacious interior with a 4.8m ceiling and a panoramic view of the Umeda cityscape provides a comfortable and high-quality entertainment space that combines convenience with a sense of quality.
We were in charge of design, layout.

The challenge was how to incorporate three business types - a dining establishment, a cafe stand, and a record shop - into one tenant space. Also, because the space was originally two separate tenants combined into one, the issue was how to ensure an evacuation route that crossed the space and two evacuation doors.
Furthermore, given the regulations that come with being a new facility and the tenant environment, we wanted a space that would not only have a relaxed concept design that gave the impression that it had always been there, but also one that could express a high-quality atmosphere and guarantee authentic acoustic quality.

We used the evacuation route that had previously divided the area to create an approach space that would act as a photo spot, and placed a glass-enclosed kitchen area and record shop adjacent to the entrance, creating a mechanism to heighten anticipation for the interior despite the open façade. We also set up a cafe area on the easily accessible store side, and gently divided the cafe area from the dining area by varying the floor and ceiling heights.
In order to maximize the acoustic quality of the dining area, careful adjustments were made to the equipment from the beginning of the planning, ensuring a maximum ceiling height of 4.8m. The interior of the restaurant is accentuated with basic materials such as antique wood, mortar, and black iron, and the iconic pendant lighting hanging from the high ceiling and the design lighting fixtures with a record motif scattered throughout create a spatial expression that colors the high-quality food and music experience that BLUE NOTE offers.
