Nomura Co., Ltd.'s research and development organization, the Future Creation Institute, will be exhibiting at the "Daikanyama Cool Summer Festival 2026," held at Daikanyama T-SITE from September 18th (Fri) to September 27th (Sun), following its participation last year. The "Daikanyama Cool Summer Festival 2026" is a festival held throughout the Daikanyama area, organized by the Daikanyama Shopping Association, which includes Daikanyama T-SITE, and the Daikanyama Cool Summer Festival Executive Committee. This year's theme is "Play." In addition to a traditional Japanese festival and a small fireworks display that connect people, communities, and the future, a variety of fairs and events full of playful spirit will be held.

The Institute for Future Creation continues its experiments to expand the possibilities of future spatial experiences. One of the things we value most in our activities is a "playful spirit" that is not bound by conventional thinking. This time, we will exhibit content that has been born from our research and development. We will deliver experiences that will make you smile and give you a chance to think about the relationship between people and the environment from a slightly different perspective.

Our exhibit details

■Resource Hub ver.2.0

A "resource hub" where you can experience circulation.
The "Resource Hub" project views festival waste as a "resource," creating a collection point where people can learn about sorting and resource recycling while having fun. As with last year, the booth is designed by dodotokyo and utilizes waste materials for decoration.

Visualization of environmental impact through material flow analysis (MFA)
Daikanyama Tsutaya Bookstore, along with its partner companies, Mirai Sozo Kenkyujo (Future Creation Institute), Japan Gray Line, and RECOTECH, will jointly measure CO₂ emissions and resource recycling rates associated with the event. The aim is to achieve both a lively atmosphere and environmental considerations at the event.

Dates: September 19th (Sat), 20th (Sun), 26th (Sat), 27th (Sun)
Venue: Daikanyama T-SITE Outdoor Space

■Emotion Map by emograf

This is an emotion mapping project that visualizes the "vibrancy" and "smiles" that fill the Soryosai festival in real time. It analyzes facial expressions from photos taken and posted on Instagram by visitors, and reconstructs the extracted emotion data on a map as gradient colors. It is a new interactive project that visualizes the excitement of the event and the feelings of the people as graphics. During the event, please post your smiles using "#Soryosai".

*Public posts tagged with "#爽涼祭" may be used for research and measurement purposes related to this project. The analysis results will not be used in a way that identifies individuals.

Dates: September 19th (Sat) - 27th (Sun)
Venue: Daikanyama Tsutaya Bookstore, Building 1, 1st Floor

■Wind demonstration experiment at SHARE LOUNGE

This is a prototyping project that incorporates the fluctuations in air that exist in the natural environment into an indoor space. We will create air fluctuations within the Daikanyama Tsutaya Bookstore SHARE LOUNGE and examine how these changes affect the comfort and way people spend time in the space.

Dates: September 19th (Sat) - 27th (Sun)
Venue: Inside the SHARE LOUNGE at Daikanyama Tsutaya Bookstore

■Body language

This is an interactive prototyping experience where you weave a story using body poses as a starting point. With each pose, the story expands freely, stimulating ideas and dialogue among participants. You can experience the joy of new forms of expression by connecting words using your body.

Date and time: September 26th (Sat) - 27th (Sun)
Venue: Daikanyama Tsutaya Bookstore, Building 1, 2nd Floor

■Talk Session: What exactly is a "good place"?

A space where a refreshing breeze blows through, people naturally gather, and smiles are born. We will explore the reasons why such "just right places" are created, drawing on the research activities of the Institute for Future Creation and the practical application of space creation at Daikanyama T-SITE. This talk session will explore the nature of spaces where people gather, a sense of belonging is created, and culture is nurtured.
