The concept of the renewal is "fusion of traditional beauty and water". While respecting the legacy of being designed by Japan's leading architect Isohachi Yoshida through a fusion of Japanese and Western cultures that incorporate "Japanese beauty", we will create a hotel space that can only be found here by deepening the relationship with Nakanoshima's "water" and "rivers", which have had a great impact on people's lives and cultural development.
More about Rihga Royal Hotel
Under the call of the Osaka political and business community to "bring a modern hotel for guests to Osaka", it was founded in 1935 as "Osaka's State Guest House". We carried out large-scale renovations to meet the growing demand for inbound and banquet events in the future, such as the Osaka-Kansai Expo opening in April 2025 and the opening of an IR. In addition to guest rooms, the renovation also includes banquet halls, restaurants and public areas.

Lobby Reception

left)
The magnificent, opulent "Manyo no Nishiki" carpet covering the entire floor has been preserved as a tribute to its history. Two sides of the pillar, adorned with the lustrous bird pattern gold lacquer designed by Yoshida Ijuya, remain, while the other two sides are fitted with a glass pen mirror. This is intended to reflect the surrounding scenery and reception area, creating a sense of connection within the space.

We welcome our guests with a folding screen made of Nishijin-ori fabric, installed on the front wall. We chose this screen because it symbolizes respecting the feelings of our guests and reflects the spirit of hospitality at our hotel. As concept design unique to this screen, we boldly applied the traditional technique of "fukurashi-ori" (raised weaving) to express the majestic dynamism of water.
Guest Rooms

Upon entering the guest room, the floor is covered with the surface of the river and the sparkling light reflected on it. The bed creates a sense of floating, allowing you to feel free and relaxed as time passes. Based on the hotel's corporate color, royal green, and utilizing the verandas and fittings that incorporate classical Western styles, we have created a dignified space that inherits history.
Elevator hall/Guest floor corridor

When you take the elevator to your room, the moonlight illuminating the surface of the river and the flickering lights will lure you in. The artwork, created using metal materials with the theme of the river water of Nakanoshima and the moon and light reflected on the water's surface, changes its appearance depending on where you view it, giving you a sense of the flickering scenery of Nakanoshima at each moment.
art
By dotting art that evokes "traditional Japanese beauty" and "water" throughout the hotel, we will preserve the hotel's history and identity while also incorporating the charm of the surrounding water, enhancing the unique experience of this hotel.

HOSOO's unique approach to the power of water, which has had a major impact on the development of Nakanoshima, has been used to create the work.

Drawing the dynamism of water through calligraphy - Headboard -
The headboard is decorated with calligraphy that expresses the allure of water, the driving force behind the cultural development of this region. The subtle expressions created by the light and dark shades of ink, bleeding and smudging, express the movement, strength and three-dimensional feel of the water's surface.
