Two projects were announced: "Being - The presence of furniture" and "scape fold," a collaboration between CYUON and Naoto Ogawa (NOMURA Co.,Ltd.).

NOMURA Co.,Ltd. will participate in "DESIGNART TOKYO 2024," which will be held from October 18 to 27, 2024, with two projects: "Being: The Existence of Furniture" and "scape fold," a collaborative work between CYUON and Naoto Ogawa (NOMURA Co.,Ltd.).
Our company's vision is to "unlock all possibilities in space, starting with the 'creativity' of each individual," and we are committed to creating spaces that enrich people's lives. As part of this, we challenge the social issues we face from a creative perspective and continue to exhibit at concept design events both domestically and internationally to create a cycle of communication, exchange, and innovation through output. We will be taking on the challenge of "DESIGNART TOKYO" again this year with a new team.

"Being Furniture"

"Being: Furniture Being" is a project that rethinks the relationship between people and objects. Seven in-house designers, active in different fields, will exhibit three pieces of furniture concept design through dialogue and deep thought. We create many things every day in the course of concept design spaces, but we also feel a great sense of concern that things that are still perfectly usable are discarded or left unused. How will we interact with furniture when it changes from merely "being there" to an existence that "is there"? Through a series of experimental concept design, we will ask society about the transformation of value between people and objects.

"Scape Fold" is a collaboration between designer Naoto Ogawa and powder coating professional CYUON. This is an art piece that challenges new expressions by using metal, which is attracting attention from a sustainable perspective as a material with low environmental impact, and the color development of the paint.

Based on the main theme of "DESIGNART TOKYO 2024," "Reframing: The Beginning of Transformation," we hope you will come and experience a collection of experimental works that have been born out of new realizations and chemical reactions, born out of collaborations between designers and manufacturers.

displays work: "Being - The presence of furniture"

This project re-examines the relationship between people and objects. In concept design spaces, we are struck by the significant problem of objects being discarded or abandoned while still perfectly usable. When we consider situations where an object is cherished and used for a long time, a relationship develops where attachment to the object blossoms.

Over time, our perception of objects shifts from simply "owning and using" them to caring for them and "being with" them. We believe that recognizing this shift in perception is one way to solve the problem, and this project was born from that idea. If furniture transforms from something that "exists" to something that "is present," how will we interact with it? Through a series of experimental concept design, we pose this question to society: the transformation of value between people and objects.

dohdoh | Difficult chair

"It'll be a bit of a burden, but please let me ride."
Everyone has their own way of sitting. What if, as the rider and the furniture explore each other, they develop a sense of attachment to the seat through their own sense of style?

iii | Whimsical Table

"Can I post it?"
The whimsical tables that make you wonder if they will put this on. They spit things out, lose their balance, and somehow manage to hold things up. I wish I could get along with these unreliable yet adorable creatures.

sorosoro | Lighting for a relaxing time

"It's about time to light up" "It's time to rest"
A table lamp that makes you want to say, "This is a great furniture item." Furniture has the same amount of time it is used as it does not. What if there was furniture that worked hard and slacked off, just like humans work hard and rest?

CYUON x Naoto Ogawa (NOMURA Co.,Ltd.) Collaboration displays Piece "scape fold"

CYUON is a project by powder coating factory SIRIUS in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, that challenges new possibilities in powder coating. For DESIGNART TOKYO 2024, Naoto Ogawa, who has collaborated with SIRIUS on wedding facilities and residences, was appointed as the designer.

The potential of gradient expression through powder coating is limitless. In this work, we express the excellent color development and unique texture that envelops the metallic material in transparent colors, using stainless steel, which is also commonly used in interiors. Please come and see this challenge of Japanese technology cultivated through manufacturing.
