Toba International Hotel reopens after renovations to celebrate its 60th anniversary | NOMURA Co.,Ltd. was in charge of renovation concept design, floor and energy services, and construction for multiple areas.

Toba International Hotel (Toba City, Mie Prefecture) celebrated its 60th anniversary in March 2024 and reopened after renovations. Since its opening in 1964, for over half a century it has served as the "Guest House of Ise-Shima," welcoming members of the Japanese Imperial Family and other distinguished guests from Japan and abroad. The hotel has now renovated the entrance floor, club lounge, and guest rooms, including a terrace where guests can experience panoramic views of Toba Bay and cuisine unique to Ise-Shima. NOMURA Co.,Ltd., Ltd. was responsible for the renovation concept design, floor planning and interior design, and construction of multiple areas, providing an even more attractive stay experience and a space overflowing with hospitality.

This renovation incorporates the principles of biophilic concept design, respecting the beauty of nature and the diversity of life. concept design aims to allow guests to relax and feel connected to the magnificent nature of Toba through the space. The breathtaking scenery takes center stage, and interiors uses locally sourced materials such as limestone and ancient wood, while incorporating motifs of ocean ripples, flowing water, mountain ridges, and mother-of-pearl throughout.

NOMURA Co.,Ltd. works in collaboration with the tourism industry to help create spaces such as hospitality facilities, cultural facilities, and parks in the Chubu region. We will continue to utilize our creativity to contribute to the creation of attractive communities.

I have been involved with Toba International Hotel since 2014, starting with the renovation of the chapel, followed by the hotel's exterior and the renewal of the Japanese restaurant. For this full-scale renovation, we aimed to create an ocean resort where guests can enjoy a relaxed pace of life, much like the tranquil atmosphere of Toba, with concept design that resonates with the natural surroundings of the area.
