NOMURA 's Social Good Activities: The Healing Mount Nokogiri: Tourist Destination Revitalization Projects through Microtourism Development "Sea and Sauna" and "Jobus!!" Case Studies
NOMURA Co., Ltd., together with five other businesses, including Kinokuniya Co., Ltd., created a tourism revitalization plan for the Nokogiriyama area of Chiba Prefecture and submitted it to the Japan Tourism Agency for fiscal 2021 "Regeneration and High Added Value Promotion Project for Existing Tourism Bases (※)."
The area has been facing issues such as the decline in overnight stays and sightseeing trips due to an increase in day trips by car following the opening of the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line and the Tateyama Expressway, as well as the need to revitalize various tourist sites that were hit hard by the disasters caused by typhoons Faxai and Hagibis in 2019 and COVID-19, and this plan was put together as a countermeasure. As part of this plan, two projects were implemented: a demonstration experiment called "The Sea and Sauna" and a transportation-related demonstration experiment called "Jo Bus!!"
Our company provided a total package of support, from assistance with grant applications, to research, planning, consulting, sign and graphic concept design, operational management ("Sea and Sauna"), public relations, and reporting support.
Based on the "Tourism Base Revitalization Plan" prepared by the local community, etc., we will provide strong, short-term, intensive support for businesses that aim to revitalize 100 tourist bases nationwide and increase the attractiveness and profitability of the entire region.
