“Marunouchi Street Park Illumination Tour!” Sponsored by NOMURA Co.,Ltd.

Since 2019, the Daimaru Yu Area Management Association (Ligare) has been working on a future area management demonstration experiment that transforms the "road space" into a comfortable "urban park space" on Marunouchi Nakadori, Tokyo. “Marunouchi Street Park” (abbreviation: MSP).

​“Marunouchi Street Park 2021 Winter”, the first winter event, will be held from December 2nd to 25th, 2021. Three spaces where you can feel the warmth with all five senses will appear under the theme of “Winter Streets”.

To explore how people can stay warm and enjoy spending time outdoors in a space that better showcases the winter illuminations that are a winter tradition on Marunouchi Nakadori, we plan to install a temporary structure that includes a winter-specific design that takes the cold into consideration, as well as an information center. NOMURA Co.,Ltd. is in charge of planning, design, construction, and concept design. This project demonstrates the comprehensive capabilities unique to NOMURA Co.,Ltd., which has a proven track record in creating various spaces, both indoors and outdoors.

Furthermore, during the operation of "Marunouchi Street Park 2021 Summer" (August-September), we observed use by visually impaired individuals, leading us to conduct interviews with people who were born blind. The results included comments such as, "The places I want to go are places I've been to before and enjoyed," "The first step is always nerve-wracking when going to a new place," "I didn't know Marunouchi had a park," and "Because I can't see, I enjoy things by using my imagination." Based on these findings, we believe that by providing clear information to the visually impaired and guiding them with reassuring support, we can convey the charm of Marunouchi in a kind and thorough manner, making them want to visit again and ultimately come to love Marunouchi Nakadori. Therefore, we will be conducting an illumination tour​ ​sponsored by NOMURA Co.,Ltd.. Through this program (demonstration experiment), we believe that by creating opportunities for everyone to "feel, connect with, and experience the seasons," we can get closer to MSP's goal of "people-centered roads."
