This seminar explores the appeal of World Expos from the perspective of exhibition design, covering news about the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, the history of expos and their impact on society, and the work of NOMURA Co.,Ltd. Ltd. (Odaiba, Minato-ku), a spatial design company whose origins lie in the "Rankai-ya" (a type of displays concept design company) that has supported expos.
What is Odaiba Juku?
The Minato City Sports and Culture Foundation (Kissport Foundation) works in collaboration with Minato City, its residents, organizations, and businesses to revitalize the community and realize a harmonious local society. The "Daiba Juku" project was launched to promote collaboration and showcase the unique characteristics of Daiba.
The first company featured is NOMURA Co.,Ltd. Ltd., which relocated Head Office to Odaiba in 2008 and has been involved in the Expo and World's Fair projects since its founding.

- Atsuko Ishikawa
Born in 1958. Works in charge of the Expo Archives at the General Affairs and Management Division NOMURA Co.,Ltd. Co., Ltd.
Since 2001, he has been involved in organizing and making public the "Exhibition Materials Collection" held by the company. He works to promote and raise awareness of exhibitions through employee training and presentations and lectures at academic conferences both domestically and internationally.
Akihiko Shikko
Born in 1958. Director of the Japan Spatial concept design Association. Chief Director of the Third Business Division, NOMURA Co.,Ltd. Co., Ltd.
Since the "Historical Museum" exhibit at the International Science and Technology Exposition (Tsukuba '85) (1985), he has been a leading expert in displays design for Expo pavilions, museums, and science centers. He currently serves as a Creative Advisor for Cultural Environment Business at the same company.
- Seiichiro Mori
Born in 1973. Planner at the Planning Division of NOMURA Co.,Ltd. Co., Ltd.
He has been in charge of displays planning in a wide range of fields, from science museums to corporate PR facilities, including the "Nagoya City Science Museum Science and Technology Hall" (2011), the "Hideyo Noguchi Memorial Museum" (2015), and the "Amada Memorial Hall" (2018). At the "Hamamatsu Science Museum Mirai-ra" (2019), he was in charge of large-scale renovations as the planning manager.
Kyohei Kishida
Born in 1983. Planner at the Planning Division of NOMURA Co.,Ltd. Co., Ltd.
He has been involved in the proposal and content direction for highly themed museums, such as the "Annual Layer Museum" (2018) and the "Hida Space Science Museum Kamioka Lab" (2019), which have received domestic and international awards, and has worked with leading researchers to create displays.
