Powerlifting Tetsuo Nishizaki (affiliated with NOMURA) wins the 20th All Japan Para Powerlifting International Invitational Championship, setting a new Japanese record.

Tetsuo Nishizaki, a powerlifter belonging to NOMURA Co., Ltd. (men's 49kg weight class, participated in the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Paralympic Games) held the 20th All Japan Para Powerlifting International Invitational Championship on February 1, 2020, weighing 49kg. Participated in class competition. As a result, I won the tournament record 130 kg and established a new Japanese record 135.5 kg.

This allowed me to record the following:

・Updated personal best and Japanese record in 49kg class

・Set Japanese records in the 49kg, 54kg and 59kg classes

・7th victory at the All Japan Powerlifting Championships (since participating in 2013)

In addition, at the 20th anniversary of this event, I took the oath of the athletes at the opening ceremony.

Thank you for your support. I was able to achieve my goal of breaking the Japanese record in the 49kg class.

The World Cup, which is an IPC-designated tournament in February and April, will be reflected in the rankings for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

I would like to continue working hard to improve my ranking in order to participate in Tokyo 2020.
