NOMURA, Ltd. begins experimenting with real office spaces to stimulate communication in the new normal era

Offices are transformed from "workplaces" to "communication spaces" where diverse human resources demonstrate their performance and generate new ideas and innovation.
NOMURA Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, NOMURA) opened a new office in Daiba Garden City, adjacent to its head office building, in March 2021 with the aim of stimulating communication among the NOMURA Group's human resources and further demonstrating their creativity by taking advantage of diverse working styles and values. The office also aims to examine and evolve the state of real office space in the new normal era by incorporating "well-being"-conscious services that guide employees to healthy eating habits and "sustainability" such as the introduction of 100% fairwood.
For the sustainable growth of the company, it is necessary to "realize the management philosophy and value provided by the company and employees as one" while having "an office with flexibility that can respond to any era" as an asset. In order to continue to create new value for society, it is important to have a place for ideas and co-creation. For that reason, the function of the office in the new normal era, where the opportunity to go to work is decreasing, is not a "workplace", but an "innovative space that induces communication" where diverse human resources from inside and outside the company gather and actively exchange opinions. We thought that it would change further.
The project for the new office began in 2019, and was created by utilizing our knowledge of space creation revitalization, three years of verification at our head office communication space "RESET SPACE," and the diverse human resources and comprehensive strength of our company, which provides one-stop services from planning and concept design to construction and operation.
Through future operations, we aim to create an office that can evolve and adapt to any era, and we will verify and propose the knowledge and data we gain from the new office.
NOMURA Ltd. concept design offices for the future. They increase employee job satisfaction, promote innovation, and address the social issues that companies face with creativity and technology. The space itself has the power to communicate, which contributes to improving corporate value.

360-degree 3D virtual tour of the new office "RESET SPACE_2"
"RESET SPACE_2" is a communication space based on the concept of a "unique park." It is a space that anyone can use freely for individual work, meetings, events, etc., and that accepts diverse personalities and allows people to come into contact with opinions and values through chance encounters and events.
We challenged ourselves to use 100% Fairwood from the base material to the finish of the fixtures and ready-made furniture. By creating a park within the company, we can increase the potential of the space, and in the future, we hope that it will serve as an opportunity to spread from here to the community.

It was opened in June 2018 within the company's headquarters as a "work style testing ground" that generates new creativity and is constantly changing and growing. The 600m2 space is divided into five zones with different concepts: "exercise," "conversation," "relaxation," "concentration," and "eating and drinking."
