NOMURA, Ltd. plans and produces a 360-degree forest virtual tour to promote domestic timber

NOMURA Co., Ltd. (hereinafter NOMURA) has planned, produced, and newly announced a virtual tour that uses the latest 360-degree 3D photography technology to take a stroll through timber-producing regions. This virtual tour is available free of charge on the website of "Morimachi Door," a project undertaken in collaboration with the National Federation of Wood Associations (hereinafter "National Federation of Wood Associations").
"Morimachi Door" aims to explore the possibility of high value utilization of timber especially in non-residential buildings (commercial facilities, stores, hotels, offices, etc.) where timber has not been used so much.・A production area experience event was held at three locations nationwide where timber industry business operators and local creators interacted with each other, with 61 participants. The 3D Virtual Tour "Virtual Production Center Experience" allows you to simulate the experience of the production center. A virtual timber production area (Hanno City, Saitama Prefecture, Nishikawa timber production area "Inoue Sanrin") reproduced online can be easily accessed from a computer or smartphone, regardless of time, place, or weather. You can freely walk through 360 degrees, and gain knowledge about trees and forestry with commentary by forester Junji Inoue.
NOMURA and the Japan Wood Association believe that in order to popularize domestic timber in spatial concept design, it is also important to approach potential users, including creators and clients. Therefore, this virtual tour not only provides a new normal forest experience, but also provides an opportunity to learn about the various ways to enjoy forests and creates a connection between creators and forestry and timber industry businesses, thereby stimulating interest in the use of timber and leading to increased use. In addition, in the future, it is expected that the use of data will contribute to forestry DX (digital transformation), including in the fields of marketing and branding.
Going forward, NOMURA and the Japan Wood Association will continue to utilize creativity and digital technology to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society connected by spatial concept design that nurtures forests.
