overview

"SOSiLA" is a new brand of logistics facilities that connects people and society. Its themes are efficiency, environmental friendliness, safety and BCP compliance, and a comfortable working environment. Narashino Akanehama Building No. 2 was the brand's first renovation project.
Our company was responsible for creating the concept as well as designing and construction the approach, vestibules, and elevator hall.

Issues/requests

This facility was completed in 2007 and required renovation due to the effects of aging, and we received a request to create a valuable logistics space before new tenants could move in.

solution

When we considered SOSiLA's principles of "Sociability," "Sustainability," and "Individuality," we thought that what we could convey through the space was "valuing the people who work there." Therefore, we promoted the concept of "increasing the value of time" so that workers could feel a sense of pride. Taking into account the location characteristics of Narashino Akanehama, close to the city center, we expressed SOSiLA's philosophy, which emphasizes the link between facilities and the local area, as an urban area, and aimed for concept design that would allow people to experience a dignified sophistication by being in the space.
Additionally, the iconic modular structure is featured on the walls, creating a sophisticated concept design never before seen in a logistics facility.
The overlapping of simple shapes creates volume and the shadows of light create layers in the space, giving each wall a strong presence. The structure, called a module, looks like stacked boxes, providing an abstract representation of a logistics facility. These ingenious ideas have resulted in a fresh concept design that allows workers to feel a breath of fresh air every day.
