KOGEI Art Gallery Kanazawa in Ginza

This project aims to improve the appeal of Kanazawa crafts in the Tokyo metropolitan area and strengthen its ability to convey the message. It relocates and opens "Dining Gallery Ginza no Kanazawa," which was located on the sixth floor of a commercial facility, as a full-scale crafts gallery on the street in Ginza 5-chome. Utilizing the brand power that has been cultivated thus far, we will create a new stage that connects Kanazawa with the world, culture and business, tradition and innovation, and convey the appeal of Kanazawa crafts to the world, while also nurturing young craft artists.

The first floor serves as a space for displays and selling craft art works by young generations, while the second floor, following the gallery format of the previous store, is a space for displays and selling lifestyle crafts and rare traditional crafts. Each floor is designed to highlight the appeal of the works on it.
On the first floor, we installed lattice-type partitions that incorporate traditional Kanazawa designs, creating a meeting space. Furthermore, given its location at the intersection of Sukiyabashi Street and Miyuki Street, we utilized the two large windows facing each street to create window spaces that showcase the artwork's appeal to visitors. On the second floor, we placed movable fixtures that serve both displays and storage purposes, and designed the space to be flexible, for example, by allowing them to be used as tables during workshops.
