Kansai International Airport Terminal 1 International Lounge "KIX Lounge Kansai"

In preparation for the 2025 Osaka-Kansai World Expo, renovation work has been underway at Kansai International Airport's Terminal 1 since 2021. As the gateway to Kansai, this project aims to "expand international flight capacity," "enhance the airside area," and "improve the passenger experience." Previously, the airport had separate lounges for each airline, but these are being consolidated into one, providing a larger space through more efficient use of space.

This project is the third phase of a large-scale renovation, and is an international business lounge themed around "ancient cities and urban areas," with a total area of 2,970 square meters and 658 seats. The lounge is divided into two areas with different concepts: "North Side" and "South Side."
schematic design was handled by Azusa Sekkei, while our company was responsible for interiors (FF&E), working drawings and construction of equipment, and art supervision.

In response to your request, we made the following ideas and proposals.

(1) Shortening of construction period
・Proposal of material changes that do not impair design with an eye on shortening the construction period
・Improvement of construction performance by changing the type of equipment pipe
・Proactive process coordination and cooperation with related companies

(2) Measures to address issues unique to airports (securing ceiling height / adjusting floor non-land)
・Utilization of the latest technology (3D scanning to photograph the site and verify the level settings of each location on the data)
・Communicate closely with the main body contractor to adjust the mounting position of equipment and equipment to ensure the maximum ceiling height.

(3) Guarantee of high quality
・Sharing of completed images by holding small mockup confirmation sessions
・Inspection of imported fixtures by customers and design companies

The customer and related companies worked together to think about "what can be done", discussed it, and were able to complete the construction.
