2025 World Expo, Japan Signature Pavilion "null²"
overview
The signature pavilion for the 2025 World Exposition, Osaka, Kansai, Japan (EXPO 2025 Osaka) called "null²" is a pavilion produced by media artist Yoichi Ochiai that creates two experiences based on the motif of "mirrors," which is associated with the theme "Refining Life."
The first is architecture that creates an "unknown landscape." A gigantic structure covered in a special mirror exterior membrane developed from scratch, the structure itself is slippery and deforms, distorting the surrounding landscape and people, creating an unknown landscape.
The second is a pair of mirrors made of digital bodies that will create an "unknown experience." The space inside the pavilion will be an experiential theater content in which visitors' bodies will be digitized, transforming organically and interacting with bodies (digital humans) that move autonomously. The experience of meeting your digital self is a reinvention of the mirror, something that has not been done since the dawn of history.
