overview

The Aoya Kami Terachi Ruins, a national historic site in Aoya-cho, Tottori City, is also known as the "underground Yayoi museum" due to the wide variety of excavated items unique to a port settlement, and this facility is part of the restoration of the historic site, "Yayoi Village." The Guidance displays Room expresses the world view of the ruins and the Yayoi period with a semi-structured ship (trading ship) as a symbol, with the theme of "Tour of Aoya Village." In addition, the Important Cultural Property displays Room has many items produced in the Yayoi period that can be said to be beautifully concept design crafts, and was concept design with the theme of a "Yayoi Art Museum" that brings out the "beauty" of Aoya's excavated items, which is different from conventional archaeological museums.

Issues/requests

At the Aoya Kamiderachi Site, well-preserved artifacts have been excavated, including part of a Yayoi human brain, and 1,353 items have been designated as important cultural properties by the country. The site, which consists of this site and the nearby "Tsumakibanda Site," where an entire Yayoi settlement has been excavated and recreated, is a prefectural policy called "Tottori Yayoi Kingdom," and the facility's cooperation and introduction of the ruins surrounding the facility were also required, along with the development of a facility for safely displays and displaying important cultural properties.

solution

In the Important Cultural Property Building, where designated cultural properties are displays, we aimed to create an art museum-like setting that is different from conventional archaeological museums. We repeatedly considered and confirmed the materials to be used during the design and construction stage, and created an environment where the properties can be safely displays, along with an unprecedented concept design. In the Guidance Building, which aims to introduce the ruins, a semi-structural ship from that time was restored as a symbol of the port village, and the exhibits are displays to allow visitors to experience life at that time and attract them to the historic site park, based on an displays story with the theme of "Touring the Village of Aoya."
