[2015 concept design AWARD] For the second time in 4 years, we won both the Grand Prize and the Gold Prize at the concept design for Asia Awards.

At the "concept design for Asia Awards 2015" organized by the Hong Kong concept design Center (HKDC), which recognizes the most influential and excellent concept design in Asia, Ryuichi Okuda of NOMURA, Ltd. was in charge of designing "World Cultural Heritage Himeji Castle Main Tower Conservation and Restoration Project: displays planning and signage design (Client: Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture) won both the Grand Award, which is the highest award, and the Gold Award in the environmental design category. Following "Palace Hotel Tokyo Chapel" in 2012, this is the second Grand Prize and Gold Prize in the past four years.

Himeji Castle, a World Cultural Heritage and National Treasure, underwent conservation and repair work for about five years from the fall of 2009. The displays and sign design that NOMURA was in charge of is divided into two phases. In the first phase, the castle is covered with a temporary enclosure that depicts Himeji Castle, and a viewing space is set up inside to show the construction scenery at all times. It was a rare displays. The second phase will be in 2015. After the completion of the renovation, the latest technology AR (augmented realization) was introduced for commentary, and the appearance at that time is reproduced with an intangible displays that makes the invisible visible. The introduction of the latest technology has opened new doors for world heritage sites and created a new style of tourism and displays concept design that transcends time. In addition, we have been entrusted with management and operation work after the grand opening.

 

There were about 800 entries for this year's concept design for Asia Awards, and 185 works were selected. In addition to 3 special awards, 10 grand prizes selected from 18 concept design fields and category awards such as gold, silver, bronze and merit awards.
