overview

Tokyu Plaza Harajuku "Harakado" is a new commercial facility that inherits and further develops the culture of the former "Harajuku Central Apartments."
Located on the southwest corner of Jingumae intersection, where Omotesando and Meiji Dori intersect, it aims to become a new landmark and cultural hub in the Harajuku/Omotesando area, standing shoulder to shoulder with Laforet Harajuku across the street and Tokyu Plaza Omotesando Harajuku "Omokado" diagonally across the street.
Our company was responsible for the master plan for the entire facility environment, design, layout of each section, the concept and part of the planning for the facility's merchandising, tenant leasing for the food and beverage floors, and the design and construction of some of the restaurants.

Issues/requests

・Create a new cultural hub in the Harajuku/Jingumae area, a historic cultural hub, that will preserve and evolve that history for the next generation while continuing to produce stimulating culture for the long term.
・The Tokyu Fudosan Group's vision, "WE ARE GREEN," is strongly expressed in concept design, especially on the food and beverage floor.
・Based on the above, the space will be designed with environmental considerations in mind.

There were more requests than this.

solution

・In order to enable each tenant and creator to co-create rather than run their business independently, we proposed a commercial environmental design that weaves commercial environmental designs into each section, creating a sense of continuity and unity.
・We proposed a fixture system that would eliminate the need for scrap-and-build when tenants change.
・The outdoor terrace space on the upper floors is seamlessly connected to the dining area, creating a unified facility.
We were in charge of tenant leasing for the fifth and sixth floors, which are food and beverage floors. As a new "Harajuku town restaurant" where diverse people gather and create new food cultures and encounters with people, we provided a way of spending time and experiential value that has never been seen before in the Harajuku/Jingumae area.
