Sophia University Building 15

Sophia University Building 15

Sophia University Yotsuya Campus Building 15 aims to contribute to the achievement of SDGs and the realization of a decarbonized society, and to become a sustainable landmark in the region, with the keyword "turning the city into a forest". It was opened as a base for education and regional exchange. It is a three-story wooden fireproof structure designed and construction by Sumitomo Forestry, and the main structure uses Kigurumi FR®, an original pure wood fireproof laminated timber made from Tama-produced cedar. The façade, which is covered with a criss-crossed wooden latticework, is concept design that expresses the founding principles of Sophia University: diversity, interaction with others, truth, and tradition. The first floor will be used to operate a cafe that can be used by the general public, and as part of community contribution activities, we plan to provide space that can be used as a disaster prevention warehouse to neighboring neighborhood associations. The second and third floors are also used for classrooms for ``Professional Studies,'' a course for working adults. Our company was in charge of design, layout, and construction of the third floor, which is used as a classroom for courses for working adults. We aim to create a space that is a place to gather, learn, and talk about nurturing wisdom, and we also connect stories from architecture to the materials that make up the space, using Nishikawa wood from Hanno, which built the town of Edo together with materials from Tama. concept design utilizes Japanese cedar and cypress.

Fukunuma Umino Square

Fukunuma Umino Square

The concept is "symbiosis". This is a project to establish an exchange base in the Arahama area of Sendai City, which was affected by the tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake. Based on the concept of an ``inclusive society'' where people of all generations and with or without disabilities can gather, we have created an ``open space'' where you can enjoy activities and events and learn about disaster prevention and mitigation. The site area is 1.3 hectares. The site consists of three areas: a cafe and co-working space, a farm, and an inclusive facility where children with disabilities can play. The clubhouse uses VR equipment jointly developed by a major telecommunications company and a local university to become a place for children to learn about disaster prevention, where they can learn about the Arahama area before and after the earthquake and how to respond in the event of a disaster. I am. The project is part of Sendai City's project to utilize the site of a disaster prevention collective relocation site, and is funded by a subsidy from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Our company provided support for acquisition applications and completion reports. This time, we completed the clubhouse area as the first phase. Aiming to create facilities that take root in the community and grow together with them, parks and indoor facilities are planned to be developed in stages based on future projections in collaboration with local residents.

To Our Future- SCRAP MATERIAL UPCYCLE PROJECT- SCRAPTURE

To Our Future- SCRAP MATERIAL UPCYCLE PROJECT- SCRAPTURE

This project is an upcycling activity that complements and displays "SCRAP" emitted from building materials and interiors materials as "FURNITURE," reuses it as recycled material, and returns it to the earth. According to an announcement by the Ministry of the Environment, the amount of industrial waste generated in Japan in 2020 will amount to 373.82 million tons*, and the amount of scrap generated per day will be nearly 1 million tons. We believe that it is our responsibility as creators, who come into contact with a variety of materials every day in our concept design work, to take the initiative in communicating to society and local communities about the recycling and use of the earth's limited resources. We have formed a team of young in-house creators and plan and manage projects as social contribution activities. By enclosing and supplementing pulverized waste materials into a transparent skin made of recycled vinyl as furniture, we will create displays to convey a message in an art-like manner and displays offices and public spaces in Japan and overseas. After being displays for a certain period of time, the materials will be returned to interiors and construction sites as interiors resources, and the project will be related to a traveling sustainability activity in which the next generation of waste materials will be enclosed, supplemented, and displays. In order to reach as many people as possible with our message, we held a launch displays in the entrance space of our office to solicit corporate sponsors, and received support from many corporate sponsors, local people, and educational institutions. By allowing everyone to see, learn about, and touch interiors waste materials that are not seen in everyday life, we hope that everyone will have an opportunity to think about a better future and a sustainable society. displays is based on an installation concept that allows you to feel the message. *Source: Ministry of the Environment “Total emissions in 2020”

TheMana Village

TheMana Village

In this project, ARTH Group Co., Ltd. (Tosashimizu Resort LLC), which handles lodging business and regional revitalization nationwide, will provide guests with one of the best stays in Asia at Ashizuri Pacific Hotel Hanatsubaki, a long-established inn at Cape Ashizuri, Kochi Prefecture, which has been popular for many years. The aim is to revitalize Tosashimizu City as a whole by revitalizing it as a resort facility called "TheMana Village." The facility is located in Ashizuri-Uwakai National Park, an area rich in nature. Despite the superb view, the old interiors of the hotel remained as it was, as if time had stopped since the Showa era. Initially, the plan was to set up a small cafe area, but after many meetings, ARTH's vision of wanting to liven up not only the hotel but also Kochi as a whole and Tosashimizu City expanded. It has been reborn as a complex facility that includes an Italian restaurant in a luxurious space where you can experience the nature of Ashizuri. We participated from the conception stage of the planning concept design to improve the attractiveness of the facility, and were in charge of producing the facade, lobby common area, guest rooms, and restaurant space that will be the face of the hotel. (Guest rooms and Italian restaurant are design supervision) Starting with “LOQUAT Nishiizu” (renovating an old private house into an auberge) in 2021, as a creative partner of ARTH, we will produce spaces that lead to attractive urban development and revitalization. I am working on.

LOQUAT Villa SUGURO

LOQUAT Villa SUGURO

This is a plan to renovate an old private house in the Odoi district of Izu City, Shizuoka Prefecture into a rental accommodation facility. This area used to be a quiet area where magistrates lived long ago, and we planned to offer a stay that incorporates the surrounding environment so that you can experience the slow flow of time beyond time. The main building has a kitchen, and services such as dinner by a visiting chef and the provision of alcohol from a movable bar are provided. For interiors, we used local materials, and tried to create a space using local materials, just like in the Edo period, such as a wall made of local soil and a dining table made of local cherry trees. [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] In order to make the most of the old private house that is rented as a whole, we received a request for an attractive space concept design based on the characteristics of the site. [Solution] While making the most of the charm of the existing building, we incorporated a spatial composition that maximizes the view of the surroundings and a finish that utilizes local soil. <Our project members> [Sales and project management] Shinya Hiratsuka, Nobuyuki Yagi [Overall supervision] Norio Koito [Planning] Saki Ninomiya [design, layout] Hiroshi Inoue -Related links- [Release] ・ NOMURA 's social good activities: Example of LOQUAT Villa SUGURO Creation of an auberge space that colors the charm of the region ・The project in which NOMURA worked on the space concept design won the silver award and many others at the “Japan Space concept design Award 2022” [Related achievements] ・LOQUAT Nishiizu
