Karatsu Castle

Karatsu Castle

Karatsu has been a window to the continent since ancient times. During the Edo period, the Karatsu domain was an important base for the Shogunate's rule of Kyushu, and it was also a historical and cultural city where the unique culture of Karatsu Kunchi and Karatsu Pottery flourished. displays Karatsu Castle, the starting point of Karatsu tourism, is expected to play a role as a circulatory device for city walking, making the most of Karatsu's shining historical and cultural attractions. We aimed to redevelop it as a facility that maximizes the attractiveness of Karatsu Castle and serves as a base for energizing the local community. We assisted with basic planning, design, and construction. There were three issues with Karatsu Castle before its renovation. First, the client wanted to update the aging facilities, outdated displays and outdated displays themes. Second, the city of Karatsu was underutilizing its attractive resources and needed to link with its collections and other tourist attractions. Third, the client needed to address safety and cultural property protection issues such as outside light, universal concept design, earthquakes, and theft. By resolving these three issues, we aimed to create a tourist spot that would be suitable for "a city of tourism and cultural exchange where the real thing shines, surrounded by nature, history, and culture. SOLUTION: To solve the issues, we aimed to realize "enjoy displays Karatsu," and implemented displays story development focusing on the history of the castle town and successive lords of the castle, displays realization of an attractive space utilizing Hizen Province products and Karatsu ware, and displays active use of IT, including introduction of AR for explanatory purposes. Next, with the aim of realizing a "comfortable displays," we created a space with a sense of hospitality, including a museum store, reviewed the flow line within the museum and gave consideration to foreign tourists and other vulnerable visitors, and installed restrooms, stair lifts, and a multipurpose room. Furthermore, with the aim of realizing a "safe and secure displays," we enhanced functions as an introduction facility for sightseeing Karatsu, such as a tourist information corner, appealed to visitors to make their rounds by providing information on sightseeing facilities, and thoroughly managed the risk of accidents and losses. We have come up with the above three solutions. <Development] Yumeki Kusumoto [Sales and project management] Tatsuya Fujii, Yumeki Kusumoto [Planning] Takeshi Kami, Shohei Kishida [design, layout] Masaaki Mitsunaga, Rie Morita [Production, construction] Takeshi Suezaki, Goro Yamano, Nanae Hori [maintenance management] Katsumi Yamada, Takatoshi Nakamura

Nijigen no Mori

Nijigen no Mori

[Project summary] Based on the Nijigen no Mori facility concept of “Cool Japan x Nature x Technology”, we planned and produced an athletic park (zipline and field athletics) where you can experience the world of Crayon Shin-chan. Since the site is in nature, we named it "Crayon Shin-chan Adventure Park" and mainly composed attractions that move the body. In addition, NOMURA handles everything from the introduction of air playground equipment, the development of a game that links smartphones and character modeling to make it tour around the design, layout, the guidance signs and monuments of the entire facility, construction interiors the shop, etc. I was able to help you. [Customer's problem] What can we do with the contents of "Crayon Shin-chan" to attract customers in the vast prefectural Awajishima Park as an anime park? There was a problem. [Solution] Two ziplines of 225m and 140m round-trip, "Challenge! Action Kamen Squadron!", where you slide down two ziplines as an action mask, "Challenge! Action Kamen Squadron!" Sengoku Daibouken!”, the two main attractions, the air playground equipment “Fuwafuwa! Quantum Robo!” We were able to plan and concept design "Adventure Park", devise a configuration that would work as one content of the anime park, and solve the problem. <Our project members> [Sales and project management] Haruhiko Kako, Natsuko Murakami [Planning] Masaki Kawahara, Yasuyuki Chosa [Art direction] Yasuyuki Chosa [Signature and graphic concept design] Yasuyuki Chosa [Modeling concept design] Yasuyuki Chosa [Technical direction] Isao Yokota [Production/Planning] Atsushi Hatano, Sogo Nomura [Production/ construction] Tetsuji Inoue, Kunihiko Hashimoto

Tobu Railway SL Revival Operation Project

[Project Summary] A grand project called "SL revival operation" has started, and for the first time in about half a century, Tobu Railway will run SL on the Kinugawa Line. As part of the project, we were involved in the basic planning, concept design and supervision of the station building, platform, and head mark, production of the bustle of Kinugawa Onsen Station, and planning, design, and construction of the SL displays hall at Shimoimaichi Station. [Customer Issues] In order to realize the three major themes of the project, "preservation and utilization of cultural heritage of the railway industry" and "revitalization of the Nikko/Kinugawa area", and eventually "support for Tohoku reconstruction support", We aimed to create an displays that would increase the branding and recognition of the region, create a lively atmosphere, convey the appeal of the railway industrial cultural heritage, and expand the number of railway fans. [Solution] Based on the Showa retro concept design that reminds us of the days when steam locomotives were running, we will create liveliness in the station building and create displays that touch on the appeal of steam locomotives so that not only core railway fans but also a wide range of generations can enjoy them. I was. At both stations where the SL stops, we created an environment with concept design inspired by the station buildings of the time and eye-catching large lanterns. In addition, in the SL displays hall, we introduce life-size photos of steam locomotives that are overwhelmed by their size, displays that children can enjoy, and the history of steam locomotives of Tobu Railway that appeals to local residents and steam locomotive fans. <Our project members> [Development] Motoo Kawata [Sales/Project Management] Motoo Kawata, Masahiro Takamori [Research/Planning/Consulting] Yoko Furuta, Tetsuro Yasuda, Toko Takeuchi [design, layout] Naoko Ishii, Takayuki Sato [ Production and construction] Koichiro Matsukawa, Masato Soeno

Seagull Terrace Sanriku Confectionery Saito Sohonten

Seagull Terrace Sanriku Confectionery Saito Sohonten

[Outline of the project] The head office of Saito Confectionery, which was damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake. After that, in the downtown area of Ofunato, which is a reconstruction base, "Sanriku Kasho Saito Sohonten" is further enhanced and opened as a flagship store with a confectionery workshop "Kamome Terrace". “I would like to propose a new form of verandah that values the relaxing feeling of being on the veranda as a place to entertain visitors with sweets. Our company is in charge of everything from the basic concept to construction, with the aim of embodying President Saito's thoughts. In addition to architectural concept design, interiors design, signage, video, logo mark creation, shopper, business card, etc., we have helped create a consistent flagship concept design. [Customer's problem] ?@ We want to make it a base for regional exchange and sightseeing, not just a store. I want to make a mechanism for that. ?A We want to appeal to a wide range of products with branding that does not rely only on the main product "Kamome no Tamago". How do you want to zone the four brands operated by Saito Confectionery (Bread Kobo COCOA, Western confectionery Le Pommier, Japanese confectionery Sanriku Kasho Saito, Nostalgic Aji Saito Mochiya) in a way that is easy to understand and have a sense of unity? I want to set up a confectionery (Hikari no Asa) workshop. We would like to pay attention to the specifications and finish that ensure hygiene, and consider how to present the manufacturing process, security, and safety. [Solution] We set up a cafe space with the image of a porch where customers gather, centering on the kids' space, which is a large symbolic creation that imagines the ``Seagull's Egg'' that looks good on SNS. In addition, we set up a multi-purpose kitchen space where you can make your own seagull egg [DECO seagull egg] in the part that can be seen from the store, which is a highlight of attracting customers. All the spaces are partitioned by glass so that you can see how the products are being made next to the store. <Our project members> [Sales and project management] Hiroyuki Uesugi [Overall direction] Hiroyuki Iizumi [design, layout] Kiwami Okamoto, Takashi Morifuji, Toru Fukiura [Signature and video direction] Mayo Tenma [Production and construction] Manabu Fukuda, Masaya Sawaguchi

Sogetsu 90th Anniversary Akane Teshigahara Solo Exhibition

Sogetsu 90th Anniversary Akane Teshigahara Solo Exhibition

[Outline of the project] The layout of the venue for the solo exhibition "HANA SO" by Akane Teshigahara, the 4th head of the Ikebana Sogetsu School, held to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Sogetsu School of Ikebana. Normally, the works to be displays are decided in advance, and it is common to think about the space that will make the best use of them, but for this displays, the head of the school proposed a reverse process of arranging flowers inspired by the space. I was. In addition, since the platform-shaped rock garden "Heaven" designed by the sculptor Isamu Noguchi will serve as the displays venue, it was an essential project to take advantage of its spatial characteristics. Therefore, we cut out a 0.5mm-thick mirror-finished stainless steel plate into a series of rhombuses, and created creases one by one to cover the stone garden, creating an expression like "mirror ivy". The ivy reflects the surrounding scenery while hiding the texture and expression of the rock garden below. The colors and outlines of the flowers arranged in the gaps are diffusely reflected, creating a kaleidoscope-like visual effect. In this way, by inserting a new layer between the two "works" of the flower and the rock garden, I thought of bringing about a new fusion and harmony, as if the flowers were gently enveloping the rock garden. Our concept design team “onndo (*)” was in charge of this property. *What is "onndo"? operated by nomura and nendo design office Our creative team has a business alliance with the concept design office "nendo", which is headed by world-renowned designer Oki Sato. [Project description] “A house where you can play innocently and connect with nature” is a second house proposal for the ReLife generation (man in his 50s, occupation: pastry chef). "I want to continue to grow with excitement. I want an environment where I can deepen my creativity no matter how old I am." We designed a living space where you can sit or lie down and play innocently with your family and friends, and a circular window room where you can become one with nature and immerse yourself in your own world. We have made extensive use of earthen walls, which have excellent texture and functionality, and effectively used the lighting effects. You can experience a space where creativity deepens from the two "nothingness" of "innocence" and "no heart". We assisted in planning, concept design and construction. [Customer issues/requests] With the theme of "a secret base where you can return to being a boy," how can we create a space where everyone can gather and play, and a space where one can simply immerse oneself in one's own world, in one living space? Kaga is an issue. [Solution] As a large space, we used clay walls with excellent texture and functionality to express a comfortable space. Among them, the space where everyone can gather and play “innocently” expresses stages using interior counters from Panasonic products, and a large table is placed in the center to express a space where everyone can gather. In the other space of "Mushin", we arranged a circular window room, which became a concept design accent in the living space and expressed a space where you can feel nature and be immersed. <Our project members> [Sales/Project Management] Yusuke Mori [Planning/ design, layout] Kenji Takahashi [Production/ construction] Masao Ogawa

Renewal of the main building of the Toyota Automobile Museum

[Outline of the project] This facility was renovated with the aim of introducing the history of the evolution of automobiles in Japan, the United States, and Europe, from the birth to the present day, through their relationship with society. The conventional displays style, in which Japan and Europe and the United States were divided into separate floors, has been changed to an integrated displays that conveys how Japanese car manufacturing has developed within a single world history. It is characterized by a graphic arrangement that does not interfere with the appreciation of the concept design, such as a catchphrase for the message and a photo production that serves as the background of the times. We have realized a museum that can be understood. [Customer issues] By communicating how the Japanese automobile industry has developed in relation to society, such as the social needs and issues of each era in world history, the value and attractiveness of the car can be seen. The challenge was to create an integrated displays that would bring visitors closer together. [Solution] We paid attention to an explanation plan and effective vehicle layout that are easy to understand for a variety of visitors and deepen their understanding. We aimed to create displays displays that allows visitors to naturally learn what role Japan has played in the 100-year history of automobiles. [Customer's voice] By using permeable partitions such as mesh tarpaulin and ball bead curtains for the zone displays commentary and space production, we have divided the zones while making the most of the open space that is the characteristic of the original building. Renewal of Seibu Chichibu Station

[Outline of the project] A complete renovation project to beautify the existing station building of Seibu Chichibu Station, with the aim of creating a new bustling base for local tourism that brings together the diverse attractions of the Chichibu area and disseminates it to the world. . Through the selection of materials unique to Chichibu, such as local cedar and lanterns, and the creation of an original logo, we are communicating the diverse charms of the Chichibu area. We assisted with the concept, the basic concept design of the architecture and interiors, and design supervision. [Customer Issues] By becoming a station building that heightens the expectations of customers who are about to visit sightseeing spots, and where customers returning from tourist spots can feel the afterglow, we hope to make Chichibu sightseeing even more impressive. We were asked to leave it in memory and contribute to the sustainable development of the region. [Solution] We aimed to create a station building that is loved by the local community and that is connected to visitors by bringing together the diverse charms of Chichibu's rich nature, inherited culture, and lively festivals. Against the background of "black ink" that exudes dignity, local culture is expressed through the use of locally produced materials such as "Chichibu cedar" and the local industry of "chochin". The delicate latticework of the "weaving pattern" that weaves the scenery and culture, and the "Chichibu crest" that changes with the seasons add color to the space, making it a space where you can feel Chichibu everywhere. In a space that emphasizes the climate, history, and culture of Chichibu, we have planned a "place" where the region and tourism are connected and new experiences and communication are born. [Outline of the project] A plan was established to establish a new business support lounge within the Otemachi Park Building, which houses serviced apartments and other facilities, with the aim of developing business support facilities to strengthen the functions of Marunouchi, an international business center. I was. [Customer's issue] Since it is a business support lounge, the issue for consideration was what kind of functions could be provided for the office workers working there so that they could lead a richer work life. In terms of concept design, the issues were how to create a high-grade concept design in relation to the historical landscape centered on the Imperial Palace, and in the refined location of Marunouchi.
