Project Overview

This project involved designing the busy space on the first and second floors of the Shiseido Global Innovation Center, called S/PARK, where Shiseido conducts its most advanced research. The multi-purpose, experience-based beauty complex is open to the public. The first floor contains the S/PARK Café, offering a food and beverage menu produced in collaboration with Shiseido Parlour, the S/PARK Beauty Bar, where customers can purchase personalized cosmetics, and the S/PARK Studio, where visitors can experience active beauty through original programs based on unique methods. On the second floor is the S/PARK Museum, a hands-on museum offering visitors interactive beauty experiences.
S/PARK’s distinctive design features a giant Sony 16K Crystal LED screen in an atrium space and a large spiral staircase connecting the first and second floors. The open ceiling creates an expansive feel and has a large motif modeled after the idea of “inspiration taking flight.”
Overall production was performed by Kundo Koyama (Orange and Partners), the spatial design was performed by nendo+onndo, and we were primarily engaged in the museum’s interior design and construction.
