Project Overview

This renovation project encompassed 148 guest rooms on four floors and hallways on 22 floors.
The Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk is an iconic symbol of the Seaside Momochi district, which was selected as one of the 100 Best Cityscapes of Japan. The architectural concept of the hotel is of a large boat pulling out to Hakata Bay.
In this renovation project as well, we used the motif of looking out onto the sea from a ship and the comforting feeling of being on a ship to envision various ways people intersect from the connections of people with the people of Hakata Bay, formed over generations of exchange with other cultures. We then designed the renovated guest rooms and hallways using shapes and structures born from “intersections,” materials that evoke the feel of ship cabins, and a color scheme reminiscent of Hakata Bay’s distinctive white sands and green pine trees, with the goal of ensuring that the Hilton Fukuoka is forever loved by people around the world.
